Understand how to animate your face in a beautiful way and up your social presence on Snapchat and show your followers the pro you are.
Snapchat is the right place when it comes to AR filters. Since it has widely opened its doors to effects and filters created by users, the list of these filters is endless. In this article, we’ll cover a new, recently introduced a filter that you can use to animate your face on Snapchat. Here’s everything you need to know about it.
If you’ve ever wanted another way to put your face on your Snapchat selfies, you’re in luck. The app launches Cameos Stickers, a new feature that allows you to decorate your snapshots with animated stickers of your face.
Snapchat unveiled the original version of Cameos in December. As one of the app’s dumbest features, Cameos has been described as a “friendly deepfake” as it allows users to paste their faces directly into animated GIFs.
Snap is now expanding its functionality. Instead of GIFs that can only be shared in chats, you can add animated stickers to your face that will fit right in your snaps. There are already a few hundred stickers to choose from, but like Bitmoji, the company plans to add more every week.
I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now, and this feature is a more realistic alternative to Bitmoji at best. At worst, seeing your disembodied face on a lazy dancer or whatever is a little unsettling.
However, if your standard Bitmoji looks a little dated, cameos seem like a reliable way to bring them to life. Unfortunately, cameos only support human faces, and my many attempts to turn my cat’s face into a cameo sticker failed, despite getting an adorable, goofy cat selfie.
Animate Your Face On Snapchat – What is the Cartoon Face Filter on Snapchat?
Cartoon Face Filter is an official filter introduced by Snapchat. Official Filters are an archive of all the filters that Snapchat has released over the years. Unlike other AR filters, the cartoon face filter can be customized to create a pseudorealistic version of your face.
Since big blue eyes are all the rage, you can do this and more with the filter. You can change different aspects of your cartoon face like eyebrows, eyelashes, etc. The filter is currently only available on Snapchat.
How do I use the Cartoon Face Filter on Snapchat?
Since the Cartoon Face filter is an official Snapchat filter, it will be available on the camera page (for now). Follow this simple guide below to animate your face using the filter.
Launch Snapchat on your phone. Now tap on the filter button at the bottom right of the record button.
Now scroll down to the Cartoon Face filter. If you can’t find it, click the “Browse” button in the lower right corner and look for “Cartoon Face.”
Point your camera at a human face. Boom, you should see the filter in action.
How to Customize the Cartoon Face Filter on Snapchat
You can adjust various aspects of the Cartoon Face filter before clicking on a photo.
Eye Shape:
This gives you two shapes (or sizes) of your animated eyes. Press the button to change the settings.
Eyelashes:
You can adjust the length you want for the animated eyelashes. There are three sizes to choose from.
Eyebrows:
This will give you different shapes of vibrant eyebrows. Press the button to scroll through each shape. There are six eyebrow shapes to choose from.
Eye color:
this is probably the best part. This setting allows you to change your eye color. You have a choice between seven colors!
Once you are happy with your animated face, you can send it as a photo or video. The eyes straighten up when you blink them. This filter works even when you are wearing your glasses.
Can you use the filter on the videos in your gallery?
Unfortunately, Snapchat filters can only be used on recorded videos or photos taken with the Snapchat camera. While Snapchat allows you to download videos and pictures from your gallery, you cannot use Snapchat effects and filters.
Animate Your Face On Snapchat – Use Bitmoji for Snapchat
Since Snapchat owns Bitmoji, the Snapchat app is one of the most obvious platforms for using your avatar. To do this, you need to sync your Snapchat and Bitmoji accounts.
A fun way to use your Bitmoji on the platform is to set it up as a Snapchat selfie.
- Sign in to your Snapchat account.
- Tap the ghost icon and choose to Create Bitmoji (you’ll be prompted to download the Bitmoji app if you don’t have it).
- Set your Bitmoji as your avatar.
Again, you can customize it and choose which selfie your contacts should see in the app. On your profile page, scroll down to the Bitmoji section, then click Select Selfie and choose from the multitude of emotions offered by the app. You also can change your Bitmoji and even change your outfit right in the same area.
Conclusion
You can drag a sticker, then tap and hold to attach it to something in the video. The sticker then follows the object on the screen – it moves, rotates and zooms to stay attached to the object. This is ideal if you want to put a sticker on the face of someone moving in the frame, for example.
In addition to the fun of animated stickers, Snapchat is also launching new tabs on the Friends and Explore screens to help keep things organized. These tabs allow users to quickly filter between friends with stories, group chats, and Discover subscriptions.
These changes should help launch the new makeover to Snapchat that some have complained about being confusing. The new tabs are designed to help separate items to make them easier to navigate, especially within the River of Discover content.
Start searching for animated GIFs on Snapchat starting today. The new functions of the tab will be available shortly. Get Snapchat for free on the App Store.
