It’s not possible for now to deactivate whatsapp account but it’s possible to delete whatsapp account and reinstall it multiple times if you wish to.
There is no valid way to deactivate whatsapp account without phone. But there’s a delete feature on whatsapp app to erase all your information on Whatsapp database. Also, you can deactivate whatsapp on laptop from whatsapp web sync your mobile whatsapp to PC.

How to Delete Whatsapp Rather than Deactivate Whatsapp Account
Since there is no specific feature in whatsapp that lets users deactivate their account or suspend it for a while and later come back to reactivate it, then the best option left is to delete your whatsapp account totally and then reinstall it when you are ready to start using same account again.
Launch whatsapp app on your Android phone and click on the ellipsis to the upper left and click on settings from the drop menu. Click on my account from the list of options on the interface.
Click on delete my account option. A window will populates when you clicked on delete my account. Scroll down the page, select your country from the drop menu, enter your whatsapp mobile number and hit on delete my account.
Note: When you chose to delete my whatsapp account following this procedure you simply granted whatsapp algorithm to do the following.
- Delete you account from whatsapp
- Delete your message history on whatsapp
- Delete you from all of your whatsapp account
- Delete your Google drive backup.
Note: Since this procedure is to delete whatsapp account rather than to deactivate whatsapp account on your phone you’ll have to use this consciously because if tampered it all your chat history, and whatsapp backup files on Google drive will also be deleted.
Finally, you can always come to reactivate whatsapp account on your phone once deleted and restore all backup messages from Google drive or your chat backup database.
