What is ChatGPT

How to use GPT

ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence chatbot that is trained to follow instructions promptly while providing detailed and precise responses using AI and machine learning.

You would be shocked at how accurate this AI tool can get. However, that is not all ChatGPT can do.

Apart from chatting with you and giving you brilliant responses, it can correct grammar, break down difficult concepts into simple ones, change movie titles into emojis, write Bash scripts, and even debug programming code.

Surprised, right? You should, but that doesn’t make it complex to operate.

Here is how to use ChatGPT.

Can a Beginner use ChatGPT?

Just as I mentioned above, an absolute beginner can make use of ChatGPT; maybe you’ve been exposed to their marketing message calling open AI an open AI API.

That shouldn’t put you off from trying, as you can access the cool stuff from the playground alone without having to write any code whatsoever.

How to use ChatGPT-3 Playground

How to use GPT

After creating an account, you will be taken to the ChatGPT dashboard, where you will be able to perform some cool tricks.

If you’ve opened a ChatGPT account, you would be amazed at how far AI can go to replicate humans, especially when you begin to use features such as “friendly chat” Q & A” and the programming debug features.

Most of the things you should be able to do using the ChatGPT app are located in the playground.

The settings and the task you want to perform have to be set on the playground. So depending on what you want to do, below are the things you can do with ChatGPT for now.

  • summarize a text in a simpler form
  • Correct grammatical errors
  • Give precise answers to your questions.
  • English translation into other languages
  • Parse unstructured data
  • Carry out bash scripting.
  • Explain codes
  • Translate from one programming language to another.
  • Extracting keywords from a block of text
  • Turn a product description into ad copy.
  • Make a spreadsheet with your data.
  • Create SQL queries
  • Makeup horror stories.
  • Generate an outline for a research topic
  • Engage in an open-ended AI conversation with you.
  • Generate a recipe for you (consume at your own risk)
  • Create a product name from samples

This isn’t all ChatGPT can do, but with just a few features, there are numerous applications for this AI tool as a business owner or personal user.

How to use ChatGPT 3 for text Generation

How to use GPT

ChatGPT can generate text in a variety of ways. You can use it to complete a plot, create a story, fill out a progression, create horror stories for you, and even write blog posts for you.

Its abilities are limitless; all you need to do is enter some instructions on the playground, and you get specific text generated for you based on what you specify.

I will be talking further about the different use cases of GPT, including how to use ChatGPT for text generation.

9 Cool things you can do with GPT3

There are a lot of uses beyond what I listed above on the various ways you can use chatGPT; you might not have come across some of them, but it will sure give you a pause on the job you’re clinging to because, with structures like this, you can be easily replaced.

But learning how it works gives you some leverage, so here are 9 cool things you can use ChatGPT for.

1. Complete a Progression

How to use GPT

As crazy as it might sound, you only need to enter some words and it will generate an almost perfect progression for you.

Doing this on your own will take you minutes, if not hours, of research, but ChatGPT seems to do it within the twinkle of an eye.

If you’ve created an account on GPT, all you have to do is go to the playground and enter these, for example. You can change it to whatever you want.

The following are levels of progression for a web developer

1. front end web developer

10. CTO

2. Use as a Linux terminal

This might sound a bit shocking but it works, all you need is to enter these instructions below the playground input box

“I want you to act as a Linux terminal. I will type commands and you will reply with what the terminal should show. I want you to only reply with the terminal output inside one unique code block, and nothing else. Do not write explanations. Do not type commands unless I instruct you to do so. When I need to tell you something in English I will do so by putting text inside curly brackets {like this}. My first command is pwd”

After entering this instruction simply click on submit and you would have a terminal-looking interface inside the input box

3. Scan through and debug your code

If you are a programmer and you are struggling to understand or figure out where the problem is in a block of code, You can simply paste the section where you feel the problem is coming from and add it to the ChatGPT playground like these:

Find the bug in the following code

[Paste the code below this instruction]

4. Write programming code

How to use GPT

You need to up your game if you are a programmer.

You might feel that learning the basics of coding and sitting on it is enough, but with the advent of chatGPT, you can write chunks of code by simply describing what you want it to do in English without writing a single line of code.

However, software engineering has its complexities, so it might take a while for AI to completely replace software engineers.

That being said, here is how ChatGPT was able to write JavaScript code for me:

on the playground type  these

Write a JavaScript code to multiply 3 numbers

5. Break down complex terms

How to use GPT

If you are a writer or copywriter and you are focused on technical niches such as finance, engineering, health, or other complex fields, you can gain a better understanding of a term, topic, or phrase by simply using ChatGPT.

Here is an example of how you can do that:

Who is a capitalist. Explain like I am 5

6. Write Music

How to use GPT

One of the few things AI and machine learning suck at is when a task involves a lot of creativity.

That’s one of the reasons why Canva cannot completely replace graphic designers, and video templates cannot completely replace video editors.

The same thing applies to music, but you can’t relax yet because machine learning can do a lot of damage if you are not good enough.

That being said, here’s how to make music with GPT.

On the playground, ensure you’ve selected “text to command.”

Now enter these into the playground.

Write a song on [how to fly]

7. Extract Data From jampacked sentences

How to use GPT

This would be a dream come true if you work with data or are constantly looking for a faster way to extract partial detail into a JSON object.

Here is a brief example of how you can go about that from the picture above:

8. Create Outline for your Blog Post Topics

How to use GPT

It is incredible how this can make life easier if you are a blogger. The only challenge you might face is targeting keywords in your headline. But it is still very valuable if you have a website with decent popularity. Anyway, here is how you can generate an outline easily.

The following are blog topic outlines for “How much is paramount plus”

1. Introduction

[insert]

10. Conclusion

9. Correct Grammatical Errors

ChatGPT does this in a matter of seconds, and the corrections are always flawless. You could tell when you translated a few paragraphs yourself. However, it might not offer as much ability to edit corrections, adjust tones, or improve readability as Grammarly.

But it does a pretty decent job.

Once you are on the playground, simply click on “Input playground at the top right of the input chatbox and selectGrammar Standard English if you can‘t find it on the dropdown. Simply click onMore Examples to access it.

How to use ChatGPT-3 for free

ChatGPT is still at the review stage, and you can use it for free since it comes with an $18 free credit. But you are charged per token (the assumed rate of a token is 0.75 words or 4 characters).
This makes 300,000 free tokens equivalent to $18.

Anytime you perform text generation on the playground, the words that are generated using up the initial credit of $18 based on the token equivalent of 4 words.
So for now, you can use these to create over 200 blog posts with a 1K word count.

GPT-3 Examples

You should now understand how to command chatGPT to do specific things based on your instructions.

However, there are a few more inventive GPT examples you can utilize.

One thing to keep in mind is that everything is in English, yet special phrases must be added to express instructions.

The use cases stated above are sufficient examples; nonetheless, I will demonstrate how differently expressed instructions get the same result regardless of how they are structured.

Example 1:

The following are the blog topic outline for Growth hacking in Startups

  1. Introduction

10. Conclusion

Example 2:

Conclusion:
After going through this article, you should be well informed on the capabilities of chatGPT if you are a newbie, a beginner, or are not conversant with software development.
If you are, you can make use of the ChatGPT AI since it affords you the ability to perform more programming-related tasks such as building a React app, creating a website mockup using Figma, and more.
There is almost no limit to what you can do with chatGPT.
However, one thing you have to keep in mind is that, since you’ve figured out How to use ChatGPT for content-related purposes, you have to edit it appropriately to avoid sounding like a robot when communicating with your audience.
