It’s actually possible to get the password of a Wi-Fi network saved on your phone. But to do so, you’d need an iPhone and a Mac. It is recommended these two devices belong to you, as you’d have to sign in to your Apple account, on both of them. However, as for people using a standard router, and not the hotspot of a phone, you wouldn’t need two Apple devices. Rather, you’d just have to connect to your router and obtain its Wi-Fi password.
How to Get Wi-Fi Password on iPhone
Here are the steps we have been using to find our iPhone Wi-Fi [password.
Method 1: Using Two Apple Computing Devices
For someone interested in getting the Wi-Fi password of a network saved on their iPhone, this method should work for you. And the following is how to carry it out:
Stage 1
Sign in to your Apple account, on your iPhone. After signing in, you’d have to enable the iCloud Keychain service on your phone. The iCloud Keychain service is an Apple service that helps securely store passwords you’d love to share across your Apple devices. But this service is hardly enabled by default. So to enable the iCloud Keychain service on your iPhone, you have to locate the Settings app on your phone.
When you open this app, you’d be presented with a bunch of options, and one of them is an option that displays your name. Clicking this option would load a new interface, where you’d find an option called “iCloud”. The “iCloud” option is what interests us, so you’re expected to tap it.
Upon tapping the “iCloud” option, a new interface should be loaded, where you can enable the iCloud Keychain service. When you enable this service, it might take a few minutes for the activation to be completed. In other words, give the activation whatever time it requires. And if the iCloud Keychain has already enabled, you don’t have to do anything.
Stage 2
Now that you have enabled the iCloud Keychain on your iPhone, the next thing expected of you is to enable the iCloud Keychain service on your Mac, then check the Wi-Fi password you want to check. And the following is how to go about them:
To enable the iCloud Keychain service on your Mac, you’d have to click on the Apple logo located at the top-left corner of your laptop’s display. Upon doing this, a list of options would be brought up, and you’re expected to select the one called “System Preferences”. On the “System Preferences” interface, you’d find a bunch of things, but the option called “iCloud” is what you’re interested in.
When you select the “iCloud” option, you’d be presented an interface where you can enable the “iCloud Keychain” service. If the service has already been enabled, then you don’t have to do anything. Now, what’s left for you, is to check the password of the Wi-Fi network you’re interested in. And to do this, open up the app called Launchpad. After the app has opened up, use its search tool to search “Keychain Access”.
Making this search would cause the “Keychain Access” app to come up, and you’re expected to click it. When the “Keychain Access” app starts up, you can then use its search tool to search the name of the Wi-Fi network you’d like to get its password. Once the network gets displayed, click it, to open up an interface where the network’s password can be displayed. So to see the password of the Wi-Fi network, just check the “Show Password” option.
However, it’s possible your computer would ask for your account password, to show the password of the W-Fi network.
Method 2: Interacting with the Router
For people using a standard Wi-Fi router, another method available at your disposal is this one. To get the Wi-Fi password of a network, using this method, you must have already been connected to the network. And once you’re already connected to the network, you’d have to load your web browser, and type in the IP address of the network router.
Upon loading the routers web control panel, you’d be asked to provide the router’s admin username and password. If you’re able to provide the router’s correct admin username and password, you’d be presented with the router’s control panel. You should find the Wi-Fi password somewhere in the control panel.
