How Do not Disturb Works
This feature helps you to choose when and how you wish to be updated in your incoming alerts such as calls, messages, notifications, etc.
However, you are given the privilege to configure how the mute feature works with your phone. You can configure which app to work with the do not disturb when you click on it.
This feature can also be configure to work at a particular time and time to turn off when you want to start receiving notifications and alerts on incoming calls, SMS, messengers notifications, etc.
You can configure the do not disturb to turn off between the hours of 8am to 4pm which is during the working hours. During this period all your incoming calls, alerts, notifications, etc. will be muted and automatically turn off the alert and notifications after the predefined settings.
How to Setup Do Not Disturb on Android
Irrespective of your Android OS this procedure will work for you to turn on this feature on your phone. This works on Android Kitkat, Android Lollipop, Android Oreo, Android Nougat, and even Android Pie.
Enable do not Disturb
Let’s do this as quickly as possible. Here is how to enable the feature in all your Android phone.
- Swipe down the notification tray by swiping down your phone screen
- Select do not disturb icon
- Click on enable from the popup
When this is enabled, the notification icon will changed to a moon icon and it’ll appear in the status bar.
However, if the do not disturb feature isn’t available when you swiped down the notification tray, click on the pencil edit icon and drag and drop the feature to where you can easily access it.
Schedule do not disturb
Another feature you will want to consider is the schedule feature of the app which allows you to configure this feature on your phone when and when not to be active.
- Press and hold the do not disturb icon until the settings interface comes up.
- Go to the scheduled section and toggle the icon to activate it. Now, click on the time set option, set the start time and end time. After that, click on the repeat option and select when to make the feature active.
You can later delete this rule of scheduling do not distrub on your phone. All you need to do is navigate to the scheduled settings, click on the time, and click on delete rule below the interface.
Prioritize do not disturb
You can prioritize this feature on your phone to set it to which app it’ll work with on your phone.
To do this, you have to navigate to the feature settings, go to the advanced settings and click on do not disturb mode. From the popup, select allow priotiy interruptions only.
Now, click on the define priority interruptions and define which apps to quite when the do not disturb feature is active.
However, to set this feature apart from repeated callers, like when a call is coming from a single caller and it’s more than 3 times, the app will not turn off the incoming call and it’ll be active for repeated calls only.
How to Turn off Do not Disturb
This feature can be turned off automatically and it can be done manually, both work perfect but differently. The automatic feature turns off itself and turn on itself.
However, if you are not using the scheduled feature, then, you have to manually turn off the feature.
To turn of this feature here is what you should do…
- Swipe down the notification tray
- Tap the do not disturb icon
- The moon-like icon will disappear
The do not disturb will turn off once the moon-like-icon disappears and all incoming calls and alerts will come in with the predefined sounds.
