CS GO is an intriguing game that attracts players from all over the world. The game has a huge community with fans from different parts of the world. Hundreds of world-class teams participate in CS GO tournaments to enter the CS GO Teams Rankings, but only those with the best lineups perform well. Well, here we have a list of the best teams in the history of CS:GO over the year.
NAVI (2018)
In 2018, NAVI had a very controversial season. Yes, they were left without a major, but both times they were stopped by the strongest Faze and Astralis. Yes, they did not become the top 1 in the year, but this was unrealistic in the era of the Danes. And, they do not have many tournaments won, but they have a lot of second places.
However, this composition is still remembered as quite strong. It had the perfect combination of the youth of Elek and S1mple, and the experience of Edward and Zeus. At the same time, they won IEM Cologne – the third most important tournament of the year and reached the semi-finals and finals in the Majors.
This roster became golden for NAVI for a long time, because in 2019, 2020, and the first half of 2022, the team was unable to repeat the achievements that were in 2018. Fortunately, after that, the club got a much stronger squad.
Envy (2015)
The teams – Envy 2015 and LDLC 2014 were remembered for winning two Majors. There is a slight difference between them – a different sniper and rifler, but the trinity of Kioshima, Happy and Nbk went through both organizations.
France never had one strong lineup and players were constantly running between different organizations: Envy, Titan, LDLC, G2, and Vitality are just a few examples in Tier 1, there were even more of them in Tier 2. Therefore, not a single French squad lived for a long time, and the players changed with each other rather quickly.
But still, you need to remember that it has always been a strong region, which even managed to win two Major tournaments.
Virtus.pro (2014-2018)
Unlike France, where there were a lot of tier-1 talents, Poland had only one team in the top 30 of the world for a long time. Of course, we are talking about the golden five of Virtus.pro, where older players have been playing on an equal footing with youth from other teams for a long time.
The main achievement of VP is the victory at the home major in Katowice in 2014. But besides that, they won several more tier-1 trophies, and also stayed in the top ten teams for more than two years, after which they began to slowly fall.
Unfortunately, this roster has a rather dramatic end: after a series of failures and wrong actions on the part of the management, the players quarrelled with each other. Although together they were a strong team, individually, none of them could stay at the tier-1 level for a long time.
Team Liquid (2019)
Liquid in 2019, on the contrary, had a very short, but bright history. Within 4 months, the team won the Intel Grand Slam and received 1 million US dollars in gold bars. And this is despite the fact that the volume of the US market is now 3 billion dollars.
The team became the best in the world. True, only for a few months. She was able to interrupt the Astralis era, but the Danes quickly recovered and continued their dominance at the Major in Berlin.
But unforgettable victories in Cologne, Chicago (USA), Pro League, and Blast in a very short time are enough for sixth place in the ranking.
Faze (2022)
But Faze in 2022 has an era that lasts a few months longer than Liquid. The team won all the important tournaments in the first half of 2022: Katowice, Cologne, Pro League, and Major. Naturally, after this, she became the best in the world.
It seems that Faze has finally assembled a roster of star players who are perfect for each other. In the second half of the season, the team only needs to win one tournament, and they will receive a million for the Intel Grand Slam, only NAVI, Astralis and Liquid have managed to do this before.
And if in the second half of the year, Faze plays the same as in the first, then her era may become more famous than the era of the Danes.
NIP (2014)
NIP in 2012 and 2013 was an unbeatable team. That line-up with Getwright and Forest still holds the longest streak without defeat – 87 cards in a row.
But NIP got into the top five not only because of the win streak but also because of 5 major finals in a row. Starting from the first major in 2013 and until the first major on the 15th, the Swedes regularly became top 2, becoming champions only once during this time.
However, many believe that it was NIP that first started the era of CS GO. After the release of the game, there was very little asset in it, and many pro players began to switch to the new version only towards the end of 2012. However, the achievements of the Swedes should not be forgotten.
Luminosity/SK (2016)
There is still a lot of controversy about the composition of the Brazilians. On the one hand, the team won only two major tournaments in a year. On the other hand, both tournaments are majors. And in both cases, they went through incredible difficulties, for example, they made comebacks from a score of 9:15 on the first and 6:15 on the second map in the Columbus semi-finals. And besides, they have all the victories in the playoffs against top rivals: Virtus.pro, Astralis, NAVI, and twice Liquid.
So far these are the teams that are considered the best in CS GO, however, this can vary and change over time and all these changes can be tracked at Profilerr. Also keep in mind that if you’re just starting in CS GO, you’ll need to practice frequently to gain enough experience and move forward.
Cloud9 (2018)
It is difficult being the first at anything in a game that has existed for more than 15 years. However, in 2018, the Cloud9 team proved this statement to be wrong and became the first American team to win the Grand Finals of the ELEAGUE Major: Boston. And it was not without drama, as they had to come back after a losing streak and winning only in the overtime.
Besides this iconic moment, the team is famous for its aggressive and exciting gameplay. Such players as Tyler “Skadoodle” Latham, Jake “Stewie2K” Yip, and Timothy “Autimatic” Ta never failed to deliver a good show, even if the year wasn’t a huge success for the team.
Unfortunately, due to the problem with logistics with COVID-19 around, the team had to go on a break from CS:GO, but in April 2022, they made yet another comeback (seems like their feature) with a new roster (HObbit, x1Le, interz, nafany, and sh1ro), so we wait new winnings and iconic moments from this team.
Mousesports/mouz (2002)
It’s a common misconception that the best team should necessarily win the Major to be considered as of the High League. However, barely there is a CS:GO player that hasn’t heard about chrisJ, ropz, or karrigan, and yet, they all play in a team that has yet to win a single Valve Grand Tournament. Yes, we are talking about Mousesports (mouz).
This international team has been playing CS almost since the beginning (2002), along with some other popular titles like Dota 2 or StarCraft. And, of course, they have their share of wins, like ESL One New York and the ESL Pro League, which shows that they don’t lack the skill to win the Major — all they need is a little luck.
One more thing to mention is that their matches are never boring. Strategy, clutch plays, and dramatic comebacks leave a lasting impression on their fans, and we are sure to see more of these iconic moments in CS 2.
