One common mistake many iPhone users make is to think the removal of an email address is done under the Mail app. But unfortunately, that isn’t how to remove an email account on an iPhone. Removal of email accounts have to be done under a phone’s settings, and we’d be showing you how to do just that.
You should, however, note that this process isn’t the same for all versions of the iPhone. Some iPhones have similar approaches, while some have different approaches. But you have nothing to worry about, as we’d be discussing all approaches
How to Remove Email Account on iPhone 4 and 4s
Following the procedures below, you will be able to remove an email account from your iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s.
Step 1: Locate and Open the Setting App
For anyone who’d like to remove an eMail account from their iPhone, the first step needed to be taken is to locate the Settings app on your phone.
All iPhone users should know this app. But if you don’t know the app, you can simply search your home screen for an app called Setting.
Once you find the app, you are expected to tap it, to open it up.
After opening the Settings app, the next thing expected of you is to navigate to the Accounts section. And to navigate to this section, you first have to select the “Mail, Contacts, Calendars” section which is displayed on the home interface of the Settings app.
Tapping it would cause a new interface to be loaded, and on this new interface, you’d find the Account section which you’re also expected to tap.
Step 3: Select an eMail Account to delete
By now you should be seeing all the eMail accounts on your phone. And to delete anyone of them, you just have to select which of the email accounts you’d like to delete.
Step 4: Delete the email Account
Once you select an email account, one of the things you’d see is a “Delete Account” button.
If you click this button, another interface would be displayed where you can confirm the deletion of the account, by tapping a “Delete from My iPhone” button
How to Remove Email Account on iPhone 5 and 5c
The steps needed to remove an email account from an iPhone 5 or an iPhone 5c is different from that of the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4s. And here are their own steps:
Step 1: Locate and Open the Setting App
Just like the first set of steps discussed, this step has to do with locating and opening the Settings app.
Once you have been able to locate and open the setting apps, the next thing expected of you is to navigate to the Accounts section.
You should, however, note that carrying out this step requires a process quite different from that we discussed above.
So to navigate to the Accounts section, tap the Mail option displayed on the home interface of your iPhone settings.
Then from the Mail option, you should find the option called Accounts, and tap it.
By carrying out this action, you’d have navigated to the Accounts section.
Step 3: Select an eMail Account to delete
The next thing expected of you is to select an account you’d like to delete.
Step 4: Delete the email Account
Upon selecting what account you’d like to delete, the next thing expected of you is to tap the “Delete Account” button displayed.
Tapping this button would cause another interface to be loaded. And on this new interface, you should click the button which reads “Delete from My iPhone”, to finalize the deletion
How to Remove Email Account on Newer iPhones
For anyone who’d like to remove an email account from an iPhone which was released after the iPhone 5c, this is the set of steps need to be taken.
Step 1: Locate and Open the Setting App
Just like every set of steps, the first thing needed to be carried out is to locate the Settings app. This app should be somewhere on your home interface.
Once you locate it, the next thing expected of you is to open the app. It takes the app only a few seconds to open up.
Once you’ve opened up the app, the next thing expected of you is to navigate to the Accounts section. And the only thing needed to be done, to navigate to the Accounts section, is to select the “Accounts & Passwords” option.
Upon opening up this app, you should see a bunch of email accounts.
Step 3: Select an eMail Account to delete
From the current interface, you are expected to select an email address you’d like to delete. And selecting an email address is as simple as tapping it.
Step 4: Delete the email Account
After you have selected an email address you’d like to delete, a new interface would be displayed. And on this interface, you should find a “Delete Account” button. You are also expected to tap this button.
Tapping the button would cause a new interface to be loaded. And this new interface should contain a button named “Delete from My iPhone”. The “Delete from My iPhone” button is what is needed to finalize the deletion.
