Take a look at all possible means to fix auto-downloading snap view in your Snapchat account and other ways to fix “Tap to load” before you could view snap. This overrides manual snap view and turns to the default automatic snap download from all received snaps.

Causes of Snapchat Tap to Load Problem?

Snapchat auto-downloads snaps by default when they are received so that all you have click on them to view then snaps it open. However, several users are complaining that the snaps are not auto downloading; meaning that they have to download them, and then view them manually.

There are a few issues that could cause “tap to load” on Snapchat; network connectivity could be the very first one to consider. However, if the problem continues, then it’s probably something other than your network, and you might need to further look into the Snapchat tap to load.

How to Fix Tap to Load on Snapchat

Here are some the fixes to consider for the ‘tap to load’ problem that users are having on Snapchat. Try all of them, if one doesn’t seem to do the trick.

  • Turn off data saver on your Snapchat.
  • Stop optimizing the Snapchat app.
  • Turn off Phone Battery save mode.
  • Turn off Phone Data saver.
  • Restart the Snapchat app.

Disable Data Saver on your Snapchat

Snapchat inbuilt data saver function is called ‘Travel mode’. The feature helps to reduce data usage on Snapchat to help you save more data. You can enable the travel mode to keep the data saver mode on (3 days, seven days, or leave it until it’s allowed). If you used the option that says ‘Until Turned Off’ option, Snapchat would keep Travel mode on, until you turn it off.Tap to load Snapchat

  • Try turning off Snapchat’s Travel of offline mode, by launching the app and going to Settings.
  • Scroll down and click on ‘Data Saver’.
  • Turn off “Data Saver” option in the setting.

Stop Optimizing the Snapchat app.

All Android devices have the option to optimize the apps on the system with or without a third-party app. This puts the apps to sleep to free up memory of the OS to run smoothly. But you know the old saying, a sleeping app does not access data (that’s not a saying.) So, to allow Snapchat to auto-download your snaps in the background, try turning off optimization for the app.

To disable optimization for the Snapchat app, follow the procedures below:

  • Go to the phone “Settings”.
  • Click on Apps
  • Tap on Snapchat
  • Tap on Battery
  • Click on Optimize battery usage.
  • Tick ‘All’ from the dropdown menu
  • Locate the Snapchat app.
  • Toggle the on/off slider to stop Android from optimizing the Snapchat app.

Turn off Phone Battery save mode.

Many of us use our phones regularly in ‘Battery saver mode’, to help lengthen the battery life of our devices. Most Battery saver modes restrict background data usage; this means that apps that are not open cannot use data. Additionally, Battery saver mode limits the number of background apps that are allowed to run.

Try disabling Battery saver mode on your device to allow Snapchat to auto-download all received snaps in the background section of your phone.

To turn off battery save mode, navigate to settings under Device Care > Battery > Power mode.

Note: Battery saver mode may go by different names like ‘Power mode’, ‘Optimization’, etc., depending on the device you use.

Turn off Phone Data saver.

If you have enabled a data saver function on your device, this could cause your background apps to have limited or restricted data access. Similar to the above scenario, this could result in Snapchat not being able to auto-download your snaps in the background.

To disable the data saver function on your device follows the procedures below:

  • Go to your device settings.
  • Click on  Connections.
  • Tap on Data usage.
  • Tap on Data saver.
  • Turn it off.

Note: The new Android 10 has a feature to allow a background app to access data even in data saver mode. Therefore, to turn on this “Settings” follow the procedures below.

  • Go to your device Settings
  • Click on Apps
  • Tap on the Snapchat app
  • Tap Mobile data
  • Click on Allow app with Data saver on.
