How to Delete Discord Account on the Web
Just the way you can delete an account from other social media platforms such as Facebook, you can also permanently delete your Discord account. You could delete your Discord account if you are no longer interested in the game and the chatting app. It could also mean that you want to take some time off playing the Discord game.
However, whatever reason that prompts you to want to delete your Discord account or remove your account from the Discord server here is the explicit steps that you need to take.
- Go to the official Discord website on your Windows or Mac browser.
- Click on the “Users Settings” to the bottom left before the mute and deafen button.
- Scroll down to “Account Removal”.
- Here you have the option to disable your Discord account and Delete account.
- Click on “Delete Account.”
- Enter your “Discord account password” and click on “Delete Account.”
This will immediately log you out of your Discord account and you will not be able to log in again.
How to Delete Discord Account on Desktop Client
If you are using the Discord client on your Desktop you can take the full advantage of the software feature on your Windows/Mac/Linux to delete your Discord account.
Note: If you are just installing the Discord Windows or macOS client, it might take a couple of minutes for the installation process to complete.
- Launch the Discord desktop client on your computer or download the software and install it on your PC or macOS.
- Log in to your Discord account with your username and password.
- Click on “Settings” cogwheel gear to the bottom left.
- Scroll down to “Account Removal” in the new popup. You will see two options. The option to disable Discord account and the option to delete Discord account. Tap on “Delete Discord.”
- Enter your Discord password and click on the “Delete” tab.
Discord will log you out of your account and you will no longer be able to log in again. This confirms that your Discord account is permanently deleted.
How to Delete Discord on Android/iOS
It’s handy and fast to delete and remove your account from Discord permanently on Android and iOS (iPhone/iPad). Follow the steps below!
- Open the Discord app on your phone (Android or iPhone).
- Log in to your Discord account with your username and password.
- Tap on the “Cog” icon to the bottom right.
- Tap on “My Account” in the user settings.
- Discord presents you with two options under “Account Management.”
- Disable Account.
- Delete Account.
- Tap on “Delete Account.”
- Enter your Discord password and click on “Delete.”
You will log out of your Discord account and you will no longer be able to log in your Discord account with the username and password again.
Note: If 2FA is enabled in your Discord account you will be asked to enter the OTP code sent to your phone before you can delete your Discord account permanently.
There is no way to recover deleted Discord account. Once deleted you can no longer use the account. All games, purchases and personal details will be deleted from the Discord server.
Therefore you can either download your Discord data or transfer it to another Discord user.
How to Request Copy of Discord Data
If you want to keep a copy of your Discord data you can request for it so that after you have permanently deleted your Discord account you will have a copy of your own and you can upload it to your new Discord account.
- Log in to your Discord account on app or browser or desktop client.
- Click on the Cog icon >> Privacy & Safety.”
- Scroll down and click on “Request Data.”
- Tap “OK” from the pop-up.
- Done.
Meanwhile, it may take up to 30 days for Discord to compile and send your data. You can only make this request once. While you are having a pending data request, you cannot make another data request.
