Fire up command prompt on your Windows 10 by pressing “Windows + R” on your keyboard. Once the command prompt interface populates type “services.msc” without quote and hit ‘OK‘
The command entered above will open a Windows 10 service window. From the list displayed scroll down the page and double click on ‘Windows Update‘. Refer to the attachment below for clarity.
Windows 10 properties windows will populates. Click on general tab and scroll down to ‘Startup Type‘ and choose ‘Disabled‘ from the list and click ‘OK‘.

How to Turn Off Windows 10 Updates Using Registry Editor
This second approach revealed how to disabled Windows 10 updates using registry editor. The end product of this technique give the same end product as the previous method which is disabling Windows 10 automatic updates.
Fire up Command Prompt on your Windows 10 pressing “Windows 10 + R” on your computer keyboard. Key in “regedit” and click on “OK“.
This command will fire up your Windows 10 registry Editior. If you have address bar enabled on your system register copy the path below or just find your way to this registry path manually.
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows
While on the registry edition, right click on “Windows” and hover your mouse to “New“. Then click on “Key“.
Once you click on the “Key” option above then rename it to “Windows Update“. Right click on the key and hover your mouse to “New” again and then on “Key“. 
Another “Key” will be created again. Under the “WindowsUpdate” you renamed above. Rename it to “AU” and then double click on it. While on the pane, right click on it and hover your mouse pointer to “New” and select “DWORD (32-bit) Value“. 
Now rename this “Key” to “AUOptions“, and then double click on it to enable edit option. From the option choose “base as “Hexadecimal” and enter “value data” from the list below depending on your choice and click OK. 
‘2’: notify for download and automatically install updates
‘3’: automatically download and notify for installation of updates
‘4’: automatically download and schedule installation of updates
‘5’: allow the local admin to configure these settings
The value “2” look pretty good to me so that I can decide when to download updates and install it.
How to Disable Windows 10 Updates Using Local Group Policy Editor
Local Group Policy Editor also let your disable Windows 10 automatic updates just like Registry Editor above. The benefits of this feature on Windows 10 is that it give a wide range of options to manage your Windows other than manage the updates policy.
The only con of this method is that it cannot be used to disable Windows 10 updates download on Windows 10 Home edition. It doesn’t come with the feature.
So, if your Windows 10 OS is not Home Edition and you would love to block Windows 10 automatic updates here is how to use Local Group Policy Editor to achieve that.
Fire up Command prompt on your Windows 10 by pressing “Windows + R” key on your system’s keyboard. Then type “gpedit.msc” and click on “OK“.
Once that is done you will be moved to Local Group Policy Editor page. Then check through the path below and navigate to it.
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Update
While in Local Group Policy Editor settings double click on “Configure Automatic Updates”
A new Windows will populate, activate the settings and search for the option that reads ” Configure Automatic Updating” in the drop menu. To stop Windows 10 from downloading updates automatically select option two from the drop menu that says ” 2-Notify for download and auto install” and then click on “OK“. 
As direct as it was, you can follow the procedure to stop Windows 10 updates download without permission. Also, note that there is possibility that you experience different option in the drop menu. Just make sure you opt in for the best option.
